Martín Zubimendi Ibáñez

Martín Zubimendi is a Spanish defensive midfielder from San Sebastián, born on 2 February 1999. He began playing with Antiguoko before joining Real Sociedad’s Zubieta academy in 2011, developing through the club’s youth sides. Zubimendi made his senior breakthrough with Real Sociedad, debuting in La Liga in April 2019. He became an important first-team player during the 2020–21 season and helped the club win the 2019–20 Copa del Rey, whose final was played in 2021. His calm positioning and passing from deep made him a key part of Real Sociedad’s midfield as they returned to the Champions League in 2023. Zubimendi also represented Spain and replaced Rodri at half-time in the Euro 2024 final, helping Spain defeat England. In July 2025, he moved to Arsenal, continuing his career as a deep-lying controller.
