Marcos Llorente Moreno

Marcos Llorente is a Spanish defensive midfielder born in Madrid on 30 January 1995. He developed in Real Madrid’s youth academy after joining La Fábrica in 2008/09, progressing to Real Madrid Castilla as a disciplined holding midfielder. Llorente made his senior debut for Real Madrid in October 2015 before moving to Deportivo Alavés on loan for the 2016–17 season. His ball-winning work there earned regular top-flight exposure, and he returned to Real Madrid in 2017. During his second spell, he won the Champions League and the 2018 FIFA Club World Cup, including recognition as the final’s MVP against Al-Ain. In June 2019, Llorente joined Atlético Madrid, where Diego Simeone broadened his responsibilities beyond midfield. He later contributed 12 goals and 11 assists during Atlético’s 2020–21 La Liga-winning campaign, while also offering cover at right-back and in advanced roles.
