Marcos do Nascimento Teixeira

Marcão, whose full name is Marcos do Nascimento Teixeira, is a Brazilian centre-back born in Londrina on 5 June 1996. He developed in Brazil with Athletico Paranaense before gaining senior experience during a loan spell at Atlético Goianiense. His early career helped him adapt to demanding defensive systems and regular first-team football. After progressing to Europe, Marcão joined Galatasaray in January 2019 and established himself as an important defender in Istanbul. He later moved to Sevilla in July 2022, continuing his career in La Liga. Marcão combines front-foot defending with firm tackling, often stepping out of the defensive line to challenge attackers before they can turn. He also contributes to build-up play through short, purposeful passing and longer distribution from the back, giving his teams a route forward after regaining possession.
