Marc Cucurella Saseta

Marc Cucurella Saseta is a Spanish left-back born in Alella on 22 July 1998. He began playing futsal with FS Alella at four, joined Espanyol’s academy in 2006, and moved to Barcelona’s La Masia in 2012. Cucurella made his senior debut for Barcelona B in 2016 and appeared for the first team in the 2017 Copa del Rey. He then joined Eibar on loan for 2018–19 before moving to Getafe, initially on loan and permanently in 2020. At Getafe, he developed into an aggressive presser and ranked first in La Liga for total and successful pressures in 2020–21. Brighton signed him in 2021, and after one season he moved to Chelsea in 2022, where his ability to operate at left-back, wing-back or left-sided centre-back added tactical flexibility. Cucurella represented Spain through the youth levels, won Olympic silver in 2021, and helped the senior team win UEFA Euro 2024.
