Manuel Ugarte Ribeiro
Manuel Ugarte Ribeiro is a Uruguayan defensive midfielder born in Montevideo on 11 April 2001. He developed with City Park before joining CA Fénix, where he made his professional debut in 2016 and initially played as a striker. During his Uruguay under-20 involvement, Ugarte was moved into midfield, the position that has defined his senior career. In 2021, he moved to Europe with Famalicão, gaining experience in Portugal’s top flight. Ugarte then joined Sporting CP, where he developed under Rúben Amorim and established himself as a combative ball-winner in midfield. Paris Saint-Germain signed him in 2023, and he made 25 Ligue 1 appearances during the 2023–24 season. In 2024, Ugarte moved to Manchester United, renewing his link with Amorim and taking on a defensive role in the Premier League. He also represents Uruguay internationally, bringing pressing, tackling and positional coverage to the centre of the pitch.
