Maksims Toņiševs
Maksims Toņiševs is a Latvian defender who developed in the Rīgas Futbola skola (RFS) youth system before moving into senior football. He spent a period with BFC Daugavpils in 2020, gaining experience before joining Valmiera FC in January 2021. At Valmiera, Toņiševs progressed from a developing player into an established starter and helped the club win the 2022 Virsliga title. His performances earned a senior Latvia debut on 19 June 2023, when he played against Armenia in a Euro 2024 qualifier. Primarily used at right-back, he can also operate on the left, giving his teams defensive flexibility. In January 2025, Toņiševs joined Riga FC, continuing his career with one of Latvia’s leading clubs. He later added the 2025 Virsliga title, the Livonia Cup and the 2026 Super Cup to his honours.
