Morten Thorsby

Morten Thorsby is a Norwegian midfielder born in Oslo on 5 May 1996. He developed with IL Heming and FK Lyn before joining Stabæk’s youth system in 2012. Thorsby made his professional debut for Stabæk in Norway’s second tier in 2013 and helped the club win promotion, later appearing in the Eliteserien. In 2014, he moved to SC Heerenveen, where he spent five years in the Eredivisie. He joined Sampdoria in 2019 and established himself through pressing, defensive work and late runs from midfield. After a 2022–23 spell with Union Berlin, Thorsby returned to Italy with Genoa and later joined Cremonese. He represented Norway from under-17 to under-21 level and has also been involved with the senior national team. Away from football, Thorsby founded We Play Green in 2020, linking his career with climate activism.
