Marc-André ter Stegen

Marc-André ter Stegen is a German goalkeeper, born in Mönchengladbach on 30 April 1992. He developed at Borussia Mönchengladbach, initially playing as a striker before moving into goal and making his Bundesliga debut for the club at 18. Ter Stegen established himself as Mönchengladbach’s first-choice goalkeeper before making his Germany debut in 2012. In 2014, he moved to Barcelona, where he initially shared domestic and European duties with Claudio Bravo. He played in the Champions League and Copa del Rey during Barcelona’s 2014–15 treble-winning campaign, beginning a long association with the club. With Germany, ter Stegen was part of the squad that won the 2017 Confederations Cup. His 2022–23 Barcelona season brought the Zamora Trophy, with 18 goals conceded in 38 La Liga matches and 26 clean sheets. Known for precise distribution, one-on-one blocks and proactive positioning, he embodies the modern sweeper-keeper role.
