Marcus Joseph Tavernier

Marcus Joseph Tavernier is an English left midfielder, born in Leeds on 22 March 1999. He began in Newcastle United’s youth system before joining Middlesbrough’s academy in 2013 at Under-14 level, where his ability to cover the left flank developed. Tavernier made his senior Middlesbrough debut in August 2017, appearing in an EFL Cup victory over Scunthorpe United, and later scored the winner against Sunderland. In 2018, he spent a loan spell with Milton Keynes Dons, making eight appearances without scoring. He then established himself at Middlesbrough, recording 155 appearances and 18 goals across five seasons. Bournemouth signed Tavernier in August 2022, and he has since operated as a dynamic midfielder or winger, combining forward carries and set-piece delivery with pressing and defensive recovery. Marcus Tavernier remains part of Bournemouth’s squad and has become a versatile Premier League performer.
