Momodou Lamin Sonko

Momodou Lamin Sonko is a Swedish forward who was born in Göteborg on 31 January 2005. He began his development with Västra Frölunda IF before joining BK Häcken in 2020. Sonko signed his first long-term professional contract in May 2022 and made his senior debut that August in a Swedish Cup win over Älmhult. He later made his Allsvenskan debut in October and was part of Häcken’s squad when the club won its first national championship in 2022. In 2023, Sonko established himself more firmly, recording seven goals and four assists in 23 Allsvenskan appearances while also featuring in the Europa League. He moved to Gent in January 2024, continuing his career in Belgium. Sonko has represented Sweden at youth level and is listed with the Sweden Under-21 squad, while his wide attacking role can also shift towards a central position.
