Moussa Sissoko

Moussa Sissoko is a French midfielder born in Le Blanc-Mesnil on 16 August 1989. He joined Toulouse’s academy in 2003, progressed through its youth system and made his professional debut in 2007. Initially used as a defensive midfielder, Sissoko moved into a box-to-box role and earned a nomination for the 2009 UNFP Young Player of the Year award. In January 2013, he moved to Newcastle United, where he scored twice on his home debut against Chelsea. Following Newcastle’s relegation, he joined Tottenham Hotspur in 2016 and developed into a trusted central midfielder, starting the 2019 Champions League final. Sissoko later captained Watford, then returned to France with Nantes in 2022 and reached the Coupe de France final. After a second Watford spell, he signed for Panathinaikos in February 2026, while France involvement included Euro 2016, the 2014 World Cup and Euro 2020.
