Marcel Sabitzer

Marcel Sabitzer is an Austrian central midfielder born in Graz on 17 March 1994. He developed through Grazer AK, Austria Wien and Admira Wacker Mödling before beginning his senior career with Admira Wacker and Rapid Wien. In 2014, Sabitzer joined Red Bull Salzburg, where he won the Austrian double in 2014–15 and finished as the ÖFB-Cup’s leading scorer with seven goals. He moved to RB Leipzig in 2015 and helped the club gain promotion to the Bundesliga, later captaining Leipzig during its run to the 2020 Champions League semi-finals. Originally used as a winger or second striker, Sabitzer developed into a deeper, versatile midfielder who can contribute to build-up play, pressing and long-range shooting. After joining Bayern München, he spent time on loan at Manchester United before moving to Borussia Dortmund. Sabitzer also represents Austria and remains part of Dortmund’s midfield group.
