Mateo Retegui

Mateo Retegui attacks space and times his runs to the channels as the central striker, dropping into pockets to receive and finish moves. Mateo Retegui's breakout year came in 2022 with Tigre. He thrives on direct service. A move to Genoa in 2023 and then Atalanta in 2024 followed. He earned an Italy call-up in March 2023 and scored on his debut against England. At Atalanta he claimed the Capocannoniere prize in 2024–25 with 25 goals. Retegui's aerial threat, movement, and press resistance pin centre-backs and finish moves. He checks short then spins in behind, linking play with one-touch layoffs. On the pitch, Mateo Retegui remains the main reference in the box.
