Matias Rale

Matias Rale is a Finnish left-back who plays for Ilves. Born on 4 March 2001, he developed in Finland before joining FC Honka’s youth system in 2015 and progressing into senior football. Rale made his Veikkausliiga debut for Honka in 2021 and became one of the club’s captains in 2023. After Honka’s bankruptcy following that season, he moved to Lithuania for the 2024 campaign with FK Kauno Žalgiris, making 24 league appearances. He returned to Finland in 2025 to join Ilves, where he produced his most productive season with four goals. Naturally left-footed, Rale can also cover at centre-back or right-back and contributes to build-up play as well as defensive duels. He has represented Finland at under-16, under-17, under-18 and under-21 level, while remaining without a senior cap.
