Maduka Emilio Okoye

Maduka Emilio Okoye is a Nigerian goalkeeper born in Düsseldorf, Germany, on 28 August 1999. He developed in North Rhine-Westphalia, spending time in the youth systems of Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen before joining Fortuna Düsseldorf in 2017. At Fortuna, Okoye progressed to the reserve side and made his senior debut in the Regionalliga West. In July 2020, he moved to Sparta Rotterdam, where his Eredivisie performances earned him the club’s Player of the Season award for 2020–21. His form led to a move to Watford in 2022, although limited first-team opportunities interrupted his progress. Okoye joined Udinese in 2023 and has continued his development in Serie A, combining imposing reach with proactive goalkeeping and distribution. Internationally, he chose Nigeria, made his senior debut against Brazil in 2019, and represented the Super Eagles at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
