Moussa Niakhaté

Moussa Niakhaté is a Senegalese centre-back born in Roubaix, France, on 8 March 1996. Standing 1.90 metres, he developed in northern France, spending seven years in Lille’s academy before continuing with ES Wasquehal and US Boulogne. Niakhaté signed his first professional contract with Valenciennes in 2015 and established himself in Ligue 2. He moved to Metz in 2017, stepped into Ligue 1, and earned involvement with France’s under-21 side. In 2018, he joined Mainz 05, where his commanding defending and leadership developed further and he later became captain. Niakhaté moved to Nottingham Forest in July 2022 as the club returned to the Premier League, contributing to their survival after an early injury absence. He returned to France with Lyon in July 2024 and also represents Senegal internationally.
