Mathieu Michel

Mathieu Michel is a French goalkeeper born on 4 September 1991 in Nîmes. He developed at Nîmes Olympique, joining the club’s youth structure in 1999 after a brief spell with OC Redessan, and spent 17 years there. Michel was part of Nîmes’s squad that won the Championnat National title in 2011–12 before making his Ligue 2 debut against Tours on 23 August 2013. In 2016, he moved to Angers SCO and tested himself in Ligue 1, gaining experience at top-flight level. He later returned to Ligue 2, joining AJ Auxerre at the end of the 2018 summer transfer window. His professional path has also included Niort and Valenciennes, adding further experience across France’s league system. Now associated with Montpellier, Michel brings a long career built on shot-stopping, anticipation and composed distribution from the back.
