Mark Irwin Robert Alexander McKenzie

Mark Irwin Robert Alexander McKenzie is an American defender who has developed into a center-back for Toulouse. Born in New York, he came through Delaware Rush and Wilmington Rangers before joining the Philadelphia Union Academy at 11 and studying at YSC Academy. After one season at Wake Forest in 2017, McKenzie signed as a Philadelphia Union Homegrown Player in 2018. He helped Philadelphia win its first Supporters’ Shield in 2020, earned MLS Best XI recognition, and finished runner-up for MLS Defender of the Year. McKenzie moved to Genk in January 2021, winning the Belgian Cup during his first half-season and gaining European competition experience. At international level, he captained the United States under-20 team and started the 2021 CONCACAF Nations League final, which the USA won. He joined Toulouse in August 2024, where his positioning, anticipation and passing support his work in a back four or back three.
