Matthew Lusty
Matthew Lusty is a Northern Irish centre-forward who developed through local football before joining Larne’s inaugural scholarship programme in 2020. He had previously played for Ridgeway Rovers and Glentoran while attending Grosvenor Grammar School, where he helped the under-16 side reach the Belfast Cup final. Lusty made his senior debut for Larne against Annagh United in 2020 and became the first graduate of the scholarship programme to sign a professional contract. He then gained senior experience on loan with Portadown in 2021/22 and Newry City in 2022/23. At Dungannon Swifts in 2023/24, Lusty scored 12 top-flight goals and 18 overall before a shoulder injury ended his spell. Returning to Larne in 2024, he signed an extension and has operated centrally and on the left in domestic and European football. He has also represented Northern Ireland Under-21s.
