Mats Knoester

Mats Knoester is a Dutch centre-back born in Alphen aan den Rijn on 19 November 1998. He developed at Feyenoord, joining the club’s youth system in 2005 and progressing through its age groups before helping win the under-19 cup in 2017–18. Knoester moved to Heracles Almelo in January 2019 and made his senior debut against Ajax the following month. Over the next three seasons, he established himself in the Heracles defence and made more than 90 appearances. In 2022, he joined Hungarian club Ferencvarosi TC, winning the league title in 2023. He later spent time on loan with Danish side Aarhus GF before continuing his career with Aberdeen. At 1.86 metres, Knoester offers a left-footed central-defensive option whose game combines aerial strength, positional discipline and composed distribution.
