Mateo Joseph Fernández-Regatillo

Mateo Joseph Fernández-Regatillo is a centre-forward born in Santander, Spain, and holds English nationality. He began at UM Escobedo before developing with Racing Santander and joining RCD Espanyol in 2017, where he scored 14 goals in 21 Under-19 appearances during 2021–22. Leeds United signed Joseph in January 2022, initially placing him with the under-23 side. He made his senior debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the EFL Cup in November 2022 and then appeared in the Premier League against Tottenham Hotspur. Joseph scored twice against Chelsea in the 2024 FA Cup, his first senior goals, and helped Leeds win the 2024–25 Championship title with three goals in 39 appearances. In August 2025, he joined Mallorca on a season-long loan, adding experience in Spain’s top flight. Internationally, Joseph represented England at the 2023 Under-20 World Cup before switching to Spain in 2024 and scoring a hat-trick for the Under-21s against Kazakhstan.
