Malo Gusto

Malo Gusto is a French right-back born in Décines-Charpieu on 19 May 2003. He developed at AS Villefontaine and FC Bourgoin-Jallieu before entering the Olympique Lyonnais academy at 14. Originally an attacking midfielder, Gusto was converted to right-back, a role that brought his pace and technical ability to the flank. He signed his first professional contract in December 2020, then made his senior Lyon debut in January 2021. Gusto established himself as Lyon's first-choice right-back, making more than 50 appearances before attracting Chelsea's attention. Chelsea signed him in January 2023 and loaned him back to Lyon for the remainder of that season. After joining Chelsea permanently in summer 2023, he has provided width and recovery pace while also adapting to hybrid roles. He made his senior France debut in October 2023, replacing Jules Koundé in a European Championship qualifier against the Netherlands.
