Fehmi Mert Günok

Fehmi Mert Günok is a Turkish goalkeeper born in Karabük on 1 March 1989. He began his development at Kocaelispor before joining Fenerbahçe’s youth system in 2001, where he spent years learning behind Volkan Demirel. During his Fenerbahçe spell, Günok was part of squads that won Süper Lig titles in 2006–07, 2010–11 and 2013–14, as well as Turkish Cups. He left in 2015 to pursue regular first-team football, later establishing himself at İstanbul Başakşehir after joining in 2017. Günok helped Başakşehir win the 2019–20 Süper Lig title before moving to Beşiktaş in 2021. For Türkiye, he became a prominent international goalkeeper, notably making a last-second save from Christoph Baumgartner against Austria at Euro 2024 to preserve a 2–1 victory. At 1.96 metres, Günok combines reach and aerial presence with calm distribution and proactive positioning, and he returned to Fenerbahçe in January 2026.
