Matthew Guillaumier

Matthew Guillaumier is a Maltese defensive midfielder born in Sliema on 9 April 1998. He developed at St Andrews and spent part of his youth with Empoli before returning to Malta for senior football. In 2016, Guillaumier joined Birkirkara, where he established himself in the Maltese top flight. He moved to Hamrun Spartans in 2020 and helped the club win the 2020–21 league title, ending a long wait for the championship. Guillaumier later broadened his experience abroad, spending time with Siena and then playing for Polish side Stal Mielec. He also had a spell with Greek club Panserraikos before returning to Hamrun Spartans, where he is listed in the current squad. At international level, he represents Malta and made his senior debut in 2019, while his deep midfield role emphasizes screening, ball circulation and positional discipline.
