Mariano Gómez

Mariano Gómez is an Argentine defender, primarily a centre-back, born in Esperanza in 1999. He developed in the Unión de Santa Fe youth system and made his professional debut for the club in a 3–2 win over Patronato in November 2017. In January 2019, Gómez moved to Spain on loan with UD Ibiza, beginning a period of development across the Spanish football pyramid. Atlético Madrid signed him for their B team in September 2020, after which he spent time with Racing de Ferrol, Algeciras and CD Badajoz before returning to Atlético Madrid B. At Algeciras, he established himself as a regular starter, while his later Spanish seasons added further senior experience. Standing 1.94 metres, Gómez offers size and aerial strength in central defence, alongside positioning and recovery work. He joined FC Zürich in 2024 and later continued his European career with Ferencvárosi TC in Hungary.
