Matthias Lukas Ginter

Matthias Lukas Ginter is a German defender born in Freiburg. He began at SV March before joining SC Freiburg’s academy, where he developed from midfield into defense. Two days after his 18th birthday, Ginter made his professional debut for Freiburg against Augsburg and scored the winning goal, becoming the club’s youngest Bundesliga scorer. In 2014, he transferred to Borussia Dortmund, where he won the DFL-Supercup and DFB-Pokal while covering defensive positions. Ginter joined Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2017, establishing himself as a regular centre-back and contributing to buildup with composed passing. He returned to SC Freiburg on a free transfer in 2022, completing a high-profile homecoming.
