Matías Nicolás García
Matías Nicolás García is an Argentine-born Maltese defensive midfielder from La Banda, born in 1996. He developed with Sarmiento La Banda before moving to Belgrano, where he spent 2010 to 2017 and sharpened his tactical discipline. García moved to Malta in 2017, joining Senglea Athletic and beginning a senior career in the Maltese Premier League. In 2019 he switched to Floriana, becoming a regular over six seasons and helping the club win the 2019–20 Maltese Premier League title. After gaining Maltese nationality in 2022, García made his international debut for Malta against Venezuela on 1 June that year. He later joined Ħamrun Spartans, where he remains part of the squad, and has also been used as a central midfielder or left-back.
