Matías Galarza Fonda

Matías Galarza Fonda is a Paraguayan midfielder born in Asunción on 11 February 2002. He developed at Olimpia before moving to Brazil on loan with Vasco da Gama in June 2020, initially joining the under-20 side. Galarza made his senior Vasco debut in March 2021 and scored his first professional goal against Macaé that month. After featuring prominently in 2021, he lost his starting place the following season and moved to Coritiba on loan. He later joined Talleres Córdoba, where his 2023–24 performances combined ball-carrying with energetic defensive work and included five league goals in 40 appearances. River Plate signed Galarza permanently in 2025. At international level, he chose Paraguay, made his senior debut against Mexico in August 2022 and has featured in World Cup qualifying, operating centrally while also covering defensive or attacking midfield roles.
