Matteo Gabbia
Matteo Gabbia is an Italian centre-back born in Busto Arsizio on 21 October 1999. He joined AC Milan’s academy at 14, having initially developed as a defensive or central midfielder before moving into defence. In 2018–19, Gabbia spent a season on loan at Lucchese in Serie C, where he made regular starts and scored his first professional goal. He returned to Milan and gradually entered the senior side, appearing behind established defenders including Alessio Romagnoli and Simon Kjær. Gabbia scored a headed goal against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League in October 2022. After joining Villarreal on loan in July 2023, he returned to Milan in January 2024 and resumed his development in the Rossoneri defence. Standing 185 centimetres tall, Gabbia combines positional discipline, aerial ability and measured distribution, with his academy background supporting a composed build-up role.
