Matthieu Luka Epolo

Matthieu Luka Epolo is a Belgian goalkeeper born in Brussels on 15 January 2005. He developed at Standard Liège after joining the club’s academy from Anderlecht in 2019, and entered Standard’s first-team environment by 2021. Epolo made his senior debut for SL16 FC, Standard’s reserve side, in the Challenger Pro League on 26 August 2022. He later stepped into Standard’s senior team, making his Belgian Pro League debut against Sint-Truiden on 27 April 2024. During the 2024–25 season, Matthieu Epolo established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper and recorded six clean sheets in his first eight matches. His game combines reactive close-range saves with confident claims, proactive sweeper actions and distribution intended to launch attacks. He represented Belgium at youth levels, including the Under-21s, before joining Congo DR and debuting in a 2–0 win over Zambia in December 2025.
