Melker Åke Ellborg

Melker Åke Ellborg is a Swedish goalkeeper who developed through early senior football at IFK Berga. He joined Malmö FF in 2019, entering the club’s academy and continuing his progression toward first-team football. Ellborg gained competitive experience on loan at IFK Malmö in 2022, Ariana FC in 2023, and Trelleborgs FF in 2024, working across Sweden’s third and second tiers. He made his Malmö debut in the Svenska Cupen in February 2025, then recorded five clean sheets in seven Allsvenskan appearances. He also started the Swedish Cup final against BK Häcken, keeping a clean sheet through 120 minutes before Malmö lost on penalties. Before moving to Sunderland in February 2026, Ellborg made five Europa League appearances, including a match against Nottingham Forest. At Sunderland, Ellborg continues his development as a proactive goalkeeper, with reported strengths in shot-stopping, calm possession play and sweeper actions.
