Marcus Edwards
Marcus Edwards is an English attacking midfielder born in London on 3 December 1998. He developed in Tottenham Hotspur’s academy and made one substitute appearance for the first team in the EFL Cup against Gillingham. Loan spells with Norwich City and Excelsior preceded his 2019 move to Vitória de Guimarães, where he rebuilt his senior career in Portugal. Edwards then joined Sporting CP in January 2022 and became an important creative presence in Lisbon. He scored against Tottenham in Sporting’s 1–1 Champions League draw in October 2022, earning Player of the Match recognition. With Sporting, Marcus Edwards won the 2023/24 Liga Portugal title. He later returned to England with Burnley, bringing close control, right-sided dribbling and attacking-midfield creativity to his new club.
