Martin Dúbravka

Martin Dúbravka is a Slovak goalkeeper born in Žilina on 15 January 1989. He developed at Žilina, where he established himself in the first team, won two league titles and played all six Champions League group matches during the 2010–11 campaign. In 2014, Dúbravka moved to Esbjerg before continuing his development with Slovan Liberec and Sparta Praha in the Czech league. Newcastle signed him on loan in January 2018, and he kept a clean sheet on his debut in a 1–0 victory over Manchester United. His performances earned a permanent transfer, and he was named Newcastle’s Player of the Year for 2019–20. After Nick Pope’s arrival reduced his opportunities, Dúbravka joined Manchester United on a trophy-winning loan, then returned to Newcastle and resumed important goalkeeping duties. For Slovakia, he has represented the national team at major European Championship tournaments, combining reactive saves with vocal defensive organisation and increasingly confident distribution.
