Mariano Díaz Mejía
Mariano Díaz Mejía is a forward born in Barcelona on 1 August 1993. He developed in Catalonia before joining Real Madrid in 2011, progressing through the club’s reserve setup and earning a first-team opportunity in 2016. Mariano scored his first La Liga goal for Madrid and also struck a hat-trick in the Copa del Rey against Cultural Leonesa. Seeking regular football, he moved to Lyon in 2017 and scored 18 Ligue 1 goals in 34 appearances during a productive season as the team’s central striker. Real Madrid brought him back in 2018, but his second spell brought limited opportunities despite occasional decisive cameos, including a late goal against Barcelona in 2020. After leaving Madrid in 2023, Mariano joined Sevilla before moving to Alavés in 2025. As a forward, he is known for aggressive pressing, direct running, and powerful finishing.
