Mathieu Choinière

Mathieu Choinière is a Canadian midfielder born in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu on February 7, 1999. He developed with Celtix du Haut-Richelieu and CS St-Hubert before joining the Montreal Impact Academy in 2011. Choinière progressed through every academy age group, from under-13 to under-19, and represented Canada at youth level, including the 2018 Concacaf Under-20 Championship. He signed his first professional contract with the Montreal Impact in 2018, later continuing with the renamed CF Montréal. Across six seasons in Montreal, he made 139 appearances in all competitions and helped the club win Canadian Championships in 2019 and 2021. In 2023, Choinière was named CF Montréal’s MVP after contributing five goals and five assists and receiving an MLS All-Star selection. He moved to Grasshoppers in 2024 before joining Los Angeles FC, where he adds energy and defensive work to the midfield.
