Matija Božanović

Matija Božanović is a Montenegrin midfielder, born on 13 April 1994. He developed his career in domestic football, gaining experience with FK Mladost Podgorica before moving on to Dečić. At Dečić, Božanović has continued to work in midfield, contributing to the side’s domestic campaign and its pursuit of success in competitive fixtures. His primary role is central and defensively minded, with responsibilities that include protecting the defence, disrupting opposition attacks and helping his team regain possession. He has also been used in broader midfield positions when tactical demands require greater coverage across the pitch. In European qualifying competition during the 2024/25 season, Božanović played the full match in Dečić’s 2–0 first-leg win over Sileks. He remains part of the Dečić squad.
