Malte Meineche Amundsen
Malte Meineche Amundsen is a Danish defender who developed from a left-back into a versatile option in central defence. Born on 11 February 1998, he began his football development in Denmark before moving into senior football and continuing his career abroad. Amundsen joined New York City FC in early 2021 and became part of the squad that won the 2021 MLS Cup. In April 2023, he was traded to Columbus Crew, where he was used as the left-sided centre-back in a back three. His distribution became an important part of Columbus’s build-up, including a line-splitting assist for Yaw Yeboah in the 2023 MLS Cup final. Amundsen also received the Kirk Urso Heart Award in 2023, reflecting his standing within the Crew group. He remains listed as a defender for Columbus Crew.
