Luiz de Araújo Guimarães Neto

Luiz Araújo attacks space from the right, makes runs beyond the line, and tees up Flamengo’s attacking moves. Luiz Araújo progressed from Mirassol to São Paulo FC before moving to Europe. He helped Lille win the Ligue 1 title in 2020–21. A stint with Atlanta United followed, where he supplied attacking output as a designated player. Luiz Araújo returned to Flamengo in 2023 for a €9m move, anchoring high-pressing sequences and direct crosses. He checks runs, presses high and finishes moves from tight channels. In Flamengo’s system, Luiz Araújo links play with one-touch layoffs and attacks the back post to create separation.
