Lucas Vázquez Iglesias

Lucas Vázquez is a Spanish right-back who was born in Curtis on 1 July 1991. He developed in Galicia before joining Real Madrid’s academy in 2007, progressing through the youth system to Castilla. Originally a winger, Vázquez moved to Espanyol on loan for the 2014–15 season and made his La Liga debut during that campaign. Real Madrid brought him back in 2015, and he became a versatile senior option whose crossing, work rate and pressing supported both wide and defensive duties. He increasingly operated at right-back, especially when Dani Carvajal was unavailable, while retaining the attacking instincts of a former winger. Vázquez scored in the 2016 Champions League final shootout against Atlético Madrid as Real Madrid won the trophy. After a decorated Madrid career, he joined Bayer Leverkusen in 2025 and has also been involved with Spain.
