Lucas Sebastián Torreira di Pascua

Lucas Sebastián Torreira di Pascua is a Uruguayan defensive midfielder born in Fray Bentos on 11 February 1996. He developed at 18 de Julio and Montevideo Wanderers before moving to Italy, where he joined Pescara in 2013 and was converted from an attacking role into midfield. Torreira established himself at Sampdoria from 2016 to 2018, screening the defence, winning the ball and starting attacks with quick distribution. His performances earned a move to Arsenal in July 2018, where he became known for pressing, positional discipline and aggressive ball recovery. He later spent time on loan at Atlético Madrid and Fiorentina, with Atlético winning La Liga during his spell. Torreira joined Galatasaray in 2022 and has become a central figure in the club’s midfield. He also represented Uruguay at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, bringing tenacity and defensive coverage to the team.
