Leonardo Spinazzola

Leonardo Spinazzola is an Italian left-back born in Foligno in 1993. He developed with Virtus Foligno and Siena before joining Juventus in 2010, where he was named player of the tournament at the 2012 Torneo di Viareggio. Juventus sent him on a sequence of loans, including spells with Empoli, Vicenza, Perugia and Atalanta, where his pace and stamina suited Gian Piero Gasperini’s high-pressing system. Spinazzola returned to Juventus for the 2018–19 season and made his debut after recovering from an ACL injury. In July 2019, he moved to AS Roma, continuing to operate as an energetic left-sided defender and wing-back. He became a prominent member of Italy’s Euro 2020 side, earning Player of the Match awards against Turkey and Austria. Leonardo Spinazzola’s tournament ended with a ruptured Achilles tendon against Belgium, while Italy went on to win the competition. He joined Napoli in July 2024.
