Luke Paul Hoare Shaw

Luke Paul Hoare Shaw is an English left-back from Kingston upon Thames, born in 1995. He joined Southampton’s academy at eight and progressed rapidly, making his senior debut against Millwall in the FA Cup in January 2012. Shaw became the youngest player to start a Premier League match for Southampton and earned selection in the 2013–14 PFA Team of the Year. Manchester United signed him in June 2014, beginning his long career at Old Trafford. He made his England debut at the 2014 World Cup, where he was the tournament’s youngest player, and later won Manchester United’s Players’ Player of the Year award in 2018–19. In 2021, Shaw scored for England in the European Championship final against Italy, while at club level he developed beyond an attacking full-back into a more composed build-up defender. Luke Shaw has also covered as a left-sided centre-back and remains with Manchester United.
