Lasse Finn Rieß

Lasse Finn Rieß is a German goalkeeper born in Münster on 27 July 2001. He began playing as a forward for FSV Nieder-Olm before joining the Mainz 05 academy at age ten. At Mainz, he progressed through the club’s youth sides and completed his conversion to goalkeeper. Rieß moved into senior football with FSV Mainz 05 II in 2020, then trained with the first team after promotion to its senior squad in 2022. He spent much of that period as a deputy to Robin Zentner, a role requiring patience and consistent development. On 4 May 2025, Rieß made his Bundesliga debut for Mainz in a 1–1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt. Standing 1.91 metres tall, he combines a strong physical frame with comfort on the ball and an ability to contribute to build-up play.
