Iulian Laurențiu Popescu
Iulian Laurențiu Popescu is a Romanian goalkeeper born in Filiași on 18 January 1997. He developed at Școala de Fotbal Gheorghe Popescu before joining Universitatea Craiova’s youth system in 2014. Popescu began his senior career in 2016 with Craiova and gained experience on loan at Pandurii Târgu Jiu in 2017, Politehnica Iași in 2021 and FC Brașov in 2022. He returned to the Craiova setup after each spell and continued his progression with the club. His breakthrough came in 2023/24, when he started 38 matches and recorded eight clean sheets. In 2024/25, he made 37 appearances and improved his clean-sheet total to 12. Popescu is currently registered with Universitatea Craiova and has also been involved with the Romania national team.
