Lionel Mpasi-Nzau

Lionel Mpasi-Nzau is a goalkeeper born in Meaux, France, on 1 August 1994. He developed at US Torcy before joining the Paris Saint-Germain academy in 2009, where he also represented France at youth level. After leaving PSG in 2012, Mpasi-Nzau moved to Toulouse and later joined Rodez in 2016, beginning a long climb through the French divisions. With Rodez, he was part of the team that won the 2018–19 National title. He made his professional debut in Ligue 2 on 14 February 2020, keeping a clean sheet in a 0–0 draw with Le Mans. Mpasi-Nzau subsequently established himself as a senior goalkeeper for the Democratic Republic of Congo. At the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, he started the last-16 match against Egypt and scored the decisive penalty in the shootout after the game ended 1–1. In July 2025, he joined Le Havre, adding Ligue 1 football to a career built through patience and regular competition.
