Lev Kurgin
Lev Kurgin is a Kazakhstan defender who developed at Zhetysu Taldykorgan before moving into the Kairat Almaty academy. He progressed to Kairat’s senior squad in July 2022 after gaining professional experience with Kairat Moskva in Russia’s FNL 2 during the 2021/22 season. With Kairat Moskva, Kurgin made 27 appearances and scored his first professional goal. Returning to Kairat Almaty, he established himself as a left-back while also offering cover at centre-back and defensive midfield. He was part of Kairat’s Kazakhstan Premier League title-winning campaign in 2024 and the club’s Super Cup triumph in 2025. Kurgin then appeared for Kairat in the 2025–26 UEFA Champions League, including matches against Arsenal and Sporting CP. He has also represented Kazakhstan at under-21 level, adding international experience to his developing club career.
