Lucas Adrián Hoyos

Lucas Adrián Hoyos is an Argentine goalkeeper born in Guaymallén on 29 April 1989. He developed in the Newell’s Old Boys academy before gaining senior experience through loan spells with San Martín and Gimnasia y Esgrima de Jujuy. Hoyos later represented Instituto and Atlético de Rafaela, playing in Argentina’s top flight before Rafaela’s relegation in 2017. In 2018, he joined Vélez Sarsfield, beginning a four-year spell that became the defining stage of his career. With Vélez, Hoyos helped the club reach the semifinals of the 2020 Copa Sudamericana and 2022 Copa Libertadores. He returned to Newell’s Old Boys in 2023 and remained there through 2025, including the club’s run to the 2023 Copa Sudamericana round of 16. In December 2025, Atlanta United signed Hoyos as a free agent, bringing a veteran goalkeeper whose proactive positioning, distribution and experience are suited to building play from the back.
