Lucas Caruana

Lucas Caruana is a Maltese midfielder born in Pietà on September 24, 2005. He developed with Pietà Hotspurs before moving to Italy in 2022, where he joined Sampdoria’s youth system. Caruana featured for the club’s Under-18 and Primavera 1 teams during the 2022/23 season, gaining experience in Italian academy football. He returned to Malta in August 2023 and joined Hibernians, making 15 league appearances in his first senior season and scoring twice. Caruana now represents Marsaxlokk and also features for Malta at under-21 level. Internationally, he scored in Malta’s 2–2 draw with Kosovo in a UEFA Under-19 Championship qualifier in November 2023. A central midfielder who can operate deeper or further forward, Lucas Caruana offers positional flexibility across midfield and has built a promising foundation through Maltese, Italian and senior football.
