Jorge Resurrección Merodio

Koke, whose full name is Jorge Resurrección Merodio, is a Spanish central midfielder born in Madrid on 8 January 1992. He developed in Atlético Madrid’s youth system and made his first-team debut against Barcelona in September 2009. Koke established himself under Diego Simeone, progressing from a creative wide midfielder into a central player who helps control tempo, deliver passes and protect the team’s defensive shape. He has spent his senior career with Atlético, becoming captain and a central figure in the club’s modern success. With Atlético, he won La Liga in 2013–14 and 2020–21, the Copa del Rey in 2012–13, two Europa League titles and two UEFA Super Cups. He also played in two Champions League finals, both against Real Madrid. Internationally, Koke represented Spain at youth level, winning the 2013 Under-21 European Championship, before becoming a senior international and appearing at three World Cups.
