Kaishu Sano

Kaishu Sano is a Japanese midfielder born in Tsuyama on 30 December 2000. He developed at Yonago Kita High School before entering professional football with Machida Zelvia in 2019. He spent four seasons with the J2 club, establishing himself through regular midfield involvement and gaining experience in senior football. In 2023, Sano moved to Kashima Antlers, where his performances in Japan’s top flight strengthened his reputation as a disciplined central midfielder. He was called into Japan’s squad for the 2024 AFC Asian Cup, marking his involvement at senior international level. In July 2024, Sano transferred to FSV Mainz 05, beginning his European career. At Mainz, Kaishu Sano operates mainly as a defensive midfielder, using positioning and work rate to recover possession, protect the defence and initiate forward transitions.
